On a trip to Bolivia a few years ago, Voyager Colonel John Blashford-Snell came across a dog named Xingu who had two noses. Xingu was a rare Double-Nosed Andean Tiger Hound, a breed named for their unusual split (or double) nose. He remembers meeting Xingu mother, Bella back in 2005, and when he returned from his trip, he told BBC’s today: “While we were there, sitting by the fire one night, I saw an unusual looking dog that seems to be two noses.
I was sober at that time, “he said. “ Then I recalled the story that the legendary voyager Col. Percy Fawcett came back within 1913 of seeing such bizarre dogs in the Amazon jungle.”
Toby's case is a story of another dog with two noses. According to the story reported by the guardian.com, the new owner of Toby says the Australian shepherd is “the sweetest dog on earth” after saving him from being put down.
Toby was found by the Animal Rescue Group roaming the streets of Fresno, California. The group was about to get rid of him but Todd Ray intervened to look after Toby.
And he has not looked back. “Everyone that meets Toby loves him.” Says Todd,
“The sad thing is that, at this time, people will allow a two-nosed dog get put down before they adopt him – just because he looks different,” Todd said.
